Item description
The “TINTANIC” is the largest TITANIC model in Africa – made of “tin”. Created by local South African artist Gino Hart and proudly sponsored by the vintage soap brand Vinolia – the original advertiser for the real TITANIC in 1912!
After a countrywide TOUR which lasted four years, docking at 20 prime destinations in 6 different provinces and showing to an audience of more than 10 million visitors, the massive 8.7 meter *(27ft) “TINTANIC” model is retiring to Glen Austin in Midrand, Gauteng. Her new home is a privately owned warehouse known as STUDIO 401 – fittingly named after the official hull number of the real TITANIC by its original builders Harland and Wolff Shipyards in Belfast Ireland.
STUDIO 401 - THE “TINTANIC” EXHIBITION opens officially to the public on 1 September 2022, boasting gangways to board, life size D Deck entrance doors – recreated from actual archive photographs, real deck chairs and lifebelts just in case. Bookings must be made in advance through QUICKET ONLINE TICKETS for daily visitors, and schools are encouraged to plan field trips out to the site where learners, students and educators will be treated to one of the most unique attractions in Midrand – now one of Africa’s BIG SIX.
